Google continues to cash in as more advertisers jump online.
Google gets almost all of its revenue from its paid search service, which lets advertisers place ads near search results.
Consumers who search for a product or service will see the ad listed in an area called sponsored links. Advertisers pay Google only when a consumer clicks on the ad. Advertisers also bid on the ranking. Those that pay the most, say 50 cents, $1 or more per click, get their ads listed first.
With 45% of Web searches in September, Google ranked as the top search site. Yahoo, (YHOO) its chief rival, was second with 23%, says a report by Nielsen/NetRatings.
