Trend: The Nasdaq 100 ($NDX) 10-day simple moving average crossed under the 30-day simple moving average on 12-21-2006.
The last time the 10-day moving average touched the 30-day moving average was in mid August (see chart below). The 10-day MA crossed over the 30-day MA at just under the 1500 level. Yesterday's cross-under occurred at the 1790 level. Between the August cross-over and the December cross-under, the Nasdaq 100 increased almost 300 points.

The Nasdaq 100 Index includes 100 of the largest non-financial domestic companies listed on the Nasdaq National Market tier of the Nasdaq stock market. Each security in the index is represented according to the proportion of its market capitalization in relation to the total market value of the index. This index reflects Nasdaq's largest growth companies across major industry groups. All index components have a minimum market capitalization of $500 million, and an average daily trading volume of at least 100,000 shares (Investopedia).
