What if blogs also somehow helped newspapers survive? If they took on some kind of IP development "licensing" with bloggers (or provided exclusive content in a you scratch mine I'll scratch yours sort of deal)?

The issue here is competition - obviously these papers get it.

And it isn't hard to get used to reading on a small screen if you are like millions who get their news via various delivery sources through their iPhones or smartphones. Once you get used to it, a paper seems barbaric.

If Apple comes to the market of full-scale ebook readers it will be a breakthrough, like it was with their other products. But even now Amazon's competitors make quite interesting and innovative steps forward, for example Readius or FLEPia.
